Summary: Collection consists of the files of the Old Santa Fe Association, 1966-ca. 1977. Included are copies and originals of the Association's administrative and financial records and correspondence. Administrative records include membership lists and minutes. Financial records contain bank account records and budgets. Correspondence pertains to the political efforts of the Association to promote historic preservation in Santa Fe, New Mexico. Subjects reflected in these files are historic preservation, the Urban Renewal Agency (a local agency affiliated with the U.S. Dept. of Housing and Urban Development) and its projects, the Historic Preservation Act of 1966 and the subsequent process required to designate a site or building a national historic landmark, the failed efforts to save the Curry House; the successful campaign to have the Barrio de Analco designated a historic district, and other related topics. Also included are urban renewal newsletters, a picture postcard collection, clippings and articles related to historic preservation and the Association, some documents pertaining to the Historic Santa Fe Foundation, and nine reels of magnetic tapes.
